The WTA Finals debut in the Chinese city of Shenzhen will kick off on October 27th and our photographer Jimmie48 is there a few days early to capture the first practice sessions of the world’s best tennis players — on Thursday he crossed paths with Karolina Pliskova, Bianca Andreescu and Belinda Bencic.
World No.2 Karolina Pliskova is making her fourth consecutive singles appearance at the WTA Finals, which is the longest active streak.
The Fila-clad Czech, who will launch the Heritage collection when the round-robin play starts, was in good spirits during her Thursday’s evening hit.
Belinda Bencic rounded out eight-women singles field at Shiseido WTA Finals Shenzhen and arrived to the tournament fresh off a Premier-level title at the VTB Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
The Swiss 22-year-old is making her WTA Finals debut, after posting tour-leading six wins over Top 5 players this season, on top of her stunning nine victories over Top 10 players.
By entering the WTA Finals field for the first time in her young career, nineteen-year-old Bianca Andreescu is capping a perfect season which saw her win her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open and go 8-1 against Top 10 opponents.
The Canadian is already in Shenzhen and she chose an interesting outfit for her practice – Nike Pro camouflage leggings and a black long-sleeved see-through top.
The teenager accessorized with a cross pendant and we could see a little heart tattoo near the left strap of her sports bra.
Of course, there was Bianca’s mandatory spiral hair tie on her right arm.
