Bianca Andreescu showed ultimate poise and power game to win her maiden Grand Slam title by defeating 23-time major champion Serena Williams in the US Open final — can you imagine that the 19-year-old has won the first eight matches played against Top 10 players?! Following the weekend’s steep rise to stardom, the Canadian teen is now living a celebrity life, constantly posing for photographers and visiting the most famous TV shows.

First there was a traditional US Open trophy shoot. Bianca chose a shoulderless black dress with asymmetrical hem for her photo session at the Top of the Rock in Rockefeller Center.

The whole Canada is crazy about Bianca’s success, as this tweets perfectly illustrates:

On her whirlwind media tour, Bianca hit Good Morning America, Live with Kelly & Ryan, The View and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to reflect on the experience.

Bianca told Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts that only two years ago her goal was to earn enough money so that her parents could travel with her to tournaments. I guess that the US Open prize money of $3.85 million will solve that problem!

On the set of Live with Kelly & Ryan, Bianca explained the power of meditation and how she wrote fake champion’s checks to help her visualize and feel the moment of winning a major tournament.

The View focused on Bianca’s cute dog Coco, a family member always supporting her from the stands.

On The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fellon opened the interview with mind-blowing facts about Bianca:

  • started the year ranked No.152, now she’s No.5
  • the first teenager to win a Grand Slam in over a decade
  • the first player born in the 2000s to win a major singles title
  • the first Canadian to win a major singles title
  • this was the first time she qualified for the US Open in three years and she won the whole thing

I have to add my favorite thing to this social media collage and that is the calmness of Bianca’s mother. This woman is coolness goals! No wonder Bianca is so focused and confident, even at such a young age.

Bianca dreamed of winning a Grand Slam ever since she started playing tennis at the age of seven, but she overlooked the celebrity aspect of it, although, as she says, she can definitely get used to all the attention and fame.

  1. I saw her on The View. I love the story about the “fake” check for winning the US Open when she was 15. There are a lot of good young ladies to pass the torch too. Andreescu, Osaka, Anisamova, Sabalenka, Barty, Bencic, Kenin, Kontaveit, and Coco Gauff to name a few.

  2. Jim, Bianca’s mental stability is impressive, just as it has to be if you want to win a Slam. Naomi is another great example. Ten years ago, in the time of Ivanovic, Safina, Jankovic — there were a lot of meltdowns in big finals with young players.
