Eight third-round matches completed on Wednesday at the Nature Valley International, defining the tournament’s quarterfinal pairs.

World number 62 Ons Jabeur recorded her best win this season by eliminating home favorite Johanna Konta 6-3 6-2. The Tunisian will face Alize Cornet for a place in the semifinals, after the Frenchwoman beat China’s Zhang Shuai 6-2 6-2.

Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber booked her place in the last eight of Eastbourne with a 7-6(4) 6-0 win over Rebecca Peterson. The German fourth seed’s opponent in the quarterfinals will be sixth seed and former world No.1 Simona Halep of Romania, who fought past Slovenian Polona Hercog 6-1 4-6 6-3.

Last year’s Eastbourne runner-up Aryna Sabalenka saved a match point to eliminate defending champion Caroline Wozniacki 2-6 6-4 7-6(5) and book a meeting with third seed Kiki Bertens, who defeated Anna-Lena Friedsam 6-3 6-3 earlier in the day.

Russian world number 52 Ekaterina Alexandrova advanced without completing her third-round match, as 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko retired when trailing 6-3 2-1. In the quarterfinals Alexandrova will face Czech second seed Karolina Pliskova, who needed less than an hour to brush aside Elise Mertens 6-1 6-2.

Our photographer Jimmie48 attended all these third-round matches in singles, as well as a doubles quarterfinal in which Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Kirsten Flipkens defeated Nicole Melichar and Kveta Peschke. In the photos you’ll see that Bethanie is wearing her new Lucky in Love Secret Agent collection, in particular the Secret Star Tie Back Tank and Secret Star Hi-Pleat Scallop Skirt.
