Serena Williams welcomed Allure magazine‘s writer Ashley C. Ford in her Florida home and talked about how she was raised to be a confident woman, about her new clothing line, family life, pregnancy, and more. The interview comes with a number of stunning photos by Tanya and Zhenya Posternak.
The interview itself doesn’t reveal many things that we don’t already know, but I like it how the writer described in detail her impression about Serena’s home life.
My favorite part of the chat is when Serena explains why her husband Alexis Ohanian is the right match for her:
Alexis doesn’t dim my light. He doesn’t try to dim my light. He puts me in the light, even if I don’t want to be. He pushes me to further points I never thought about. It always was something that I could see in some relationships — my light would be dimmer. Now I feel like I can shine really bright and still do everything that I want to do.
We do know how much he puts her in the light. Remember when he praised her on billboards ahead of last year’s BNP Paribas Open, calling her GMOAT (the greatest momma of all time).
My favorite part are the photos. On the cover Serena wears a Jacquemus dress, the red dress is by Ryan Roche. The black dress above is signed by Eckhaus Latta, while the bodysuit is Rick Owens Drkshdw.
Because of these sheets, the setting reminds me a bit of Beyoncé’s famous photoshoot for September 2018 issue of Vogue.
