Caroline Wozniacki defeated Venus Williams 6-4 6-3 in an exhibition match in Copenhagen on April 30th, while before the match the Dane was honored in the City Hall for her tennis achievements.

It’s interesting that sixteen years ago Venus faced Daniela Hantuchova at an exhibition event in the Danish capital and that’s when Caro first met the American, her idol. You know those lovely photos of tiny Caro with Venus who looks the same as now. Today, Caro, boasting a Grand Slam title and No.1 ranking in her bio, can proudly stand next to the tennis legend.

Before Monday’s exhibition, Wozniacki, together with her family and fiancé David Lee, attended a ceremony at the Copenhagen City Hall, where she received the prize Danish Tennis Player 2017. The attendees were traditionally treated with special city hall pancakes.

Caro’s father Piotr was awarded the High Performance Prize for 2018 and Caro had this to say about it:

It means a lot that my dad has also been honored. He is really a very big part of my success, so it’s great that he was also celebrated today.

When it comes to the actual exhibition match, the score is not important, as Caroline’s brother Patrik pointed out:

Neither player gave 100%. You don’t in an exhibition. No one wants to see three shots and a winner. They want rallies. They played an entertaining match.

For the evening in Copenhagen, Venus opted for a very basic look, a dark polo top and a white skirt, while Caro wore her beautiful Adidas Spring Stella McCartney Dress and the pearl grey jacket from the spring collection.
