Before switching to her favorite clay courts, Venezuelan-born Garbine Muguruza crowned her hardcourt season at the Abierto GNP Seguros in Monterrey, Mexico.

After victories over local wildcard Renata Zarazua, Alison Riske, eighth seed Ajla Tomljanovic and sixth seed Ana Bogdan, the world No.3 Muguruza rallied from a set and a break down against Timea Babos, earning a hard-fought 3-6 6-4 6-3 victory in two hours and 20 minutes.

After a heartfelt celebration, Muguruza commented:

What was going through my mind was how it was such a hard match. I had been trying to fight like crazy. I was leading, in front of what felt like my home crowd, being in Latin America. I really wanted to win and ended up winning after such a long match. It was very emotional.

En route to her first title of the 2018 season and sixth in career, the 24-year-old sported the Adidas Spring Stella McCartney Dress, a stunning form-fitting, color-block design that made my WTA fashion favorites last month.

Next up for the Spaniard is Fed Cup, a World Group II Play-Off tie against Paraguay, on the clay courts of Centro de Tenis La Manga Club, Cartagena, Murcia, Spain.
