Yanina Wickmayer and her partner of several years Jerome van der Zijl tied the knot in their native country of Belgium, in the city of Hasselt, adding another happy story to my WTA Players and their Love Partners series.
Yanina and Jerome got engaged about two and a half years ago and the WTA player spread the news on social media. The relationship definitely wasn’t a secret, as Yanina has shared many photos of them together. The above wedding photo she posted on Twitter, saying: “A dream come true!”
The wedding ceremony took place in the Grote Kerk.
The 27-year-old Wickmayer scheduled her wedding for the day of the women’s singles Wimbledon final, apparently not believing she could go that far at the tournament. Indeed, she lost in the second round to eventual champion Garbine Muguruza.
Yanina’s colleagues that attended the wedding were Kristina Mladenovic, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Kim Clijsters.
