Adidas today officially released the collection inspired by the architecture and landscape of New York, that Angelique Kerber, Ana Ivanovic and Simona Halep will wear at the 2016 US Open.

The apparel features a colorful triangular print, reflecting the environment, energy and vibrancy of the host city. The striking design is accompanied by ClimaLite technology, which encourages quick drying of sweat, and ventilating Climacool materials, that help the body regulate its temperature in the heat.

The women’s collection includes six key pieces and colorful separates can be combined with both printed and solid items. There’s the Adidas Fall Club Racer Tank, with triangles in different shades of tech steel and flash red, and the solid option, the Adidas Fall Pro Tank.

The boldest piece in the collection are the Adidas Fall Pro Shorts, with the geometric print peeking through a woven mesh layer.

Another fashion-forward piece are the asymmetrical Adidas Fall Pro Skirt Leggings, that come with a detachable skirt.

Ana Ivanovic, who will wear the Adidas Fall Pro Dress during her 13th appearance at the US Open, has nothing but praise for her new clothes:

The US Open is an extremely special tournament to me, in one of my favourite cities, so it’s great to be able to bring a little piece of that onto the court with my Adizero outfit. New York is notoriously humid in summer, but the cooling fabrics and technologies in my Adidas dress are amazing and allow me to focus on my game.

Today Adidas also launched the Adizero Ubersonic 2 Athena women’s tennis shoes, the debut release from the FW16 Energy Pack. The limited-edition collection features four unique iterations of the Adidas Ubersonic footwear, each using inspirational stories from figures of mythology and culture. The other three additions to the FW16 Energy Pack will be revealed later this season.

What do you say about the 2016 US Open Adizero range inspired by New York City’s skyline? Which piece of clothing is your favorite? I love the eye-catching print and the reinvented shape of racerback in tanks and the dress, while my favorite items are the dress and bold shorts, especially those with white overlay.

  1. I really like the idea of the six piece and colorful separates that can be combined with solids or prints. Really do like the tech steel and the flash red looks.
Marija, this brings me to my question, something that really bothers me about what the tennis ladies wear particularly at the majors and for that matter the men, too.
Why in the world don’t the ladies where a different color of the same line, or mix and match to a different outfit from one round to another? They have a day between matches, usually. This also applies to the guys. Serena and Kerber wore the same color outfit throughout the AO. I am sure they bring more that one dress..surely they don’t wash their clothes in between matches? So why not bring a variety o f Nike dresses to the fortnight? Just got through watching the Ricoh Women’s British Open and Paula Creamer and Lexi Thompson wore different color skirts and outfits each day. Creamer wears adidas, and Thompson Puma. The golfers don’t get a day off between rounds. Same with the guys. Novak wore the same color scheme throughout the French Open…..Borinnnggg! In golf, Tiger woods would wear a white shirt with khaki pants during round one on Thursday of the Masters, then maybe a blue print shirt with black slacks on Friday, and eventually wear his power red Nike shirt with the black pants during the final round on Sunday.
This is a change that tennis needs, especially the ladies. Your thoughts?

  2. I think simona should wear solid tank tops rather than printed ones. She looks good in them and I feel it is more suitable to mix and match with printed skirts and shorts ( which I hope some one wears for matches not just for training preferably simona ). As for the dress I don’t count on seeing it for long time since ana still probably has her wedding hangover so it comes down to Kiki

  3. I really like the new Adizero dress. Ana is expected to wear it elegantly. Do you happen to know if there are any other color for this dress? Traditionally they are available in 2 colors. One of which will be worn in the US Open series. I really love the geometric triangles in the skirt and the racerback cut. It gives a refreshing edge amongst other competitors.

  4. I kind of like this collection overall, with one exception – the Pro skirt leggings (horrible!). I am also a bit reluctant to the Fall Pro Shorts, not the most successful design in my opinion. Otherwise fine I think, looking forward to see Angie Kerber in these! @Jim: You are right, a bit boring with the same outfit during the whole tournament (although I suspect they DO wash their clothes!) but you should not forget how superstitious all spotsmen and -women are – if you keep winning in one outfit, you just do not change the concept… 🙂

  5. Jim, I don’t think top players wash their clothes, especially Serena. She brings dozens of dresses and other clothes to Grand Slams, as we saw in her wardrobe video during this year’s Wimbledon. I totally understand your point. My assumption is that it has something to do with their contracts. Venus, who wears her own clothes, always wears different outfits in different matches.

Emman Damian, I think it exists only in this one color.
