After Day 1, Czechs and Russians were tied at 1-1, then Maria Sharapova opened Day 2 with a thrilling victory over Petra Kvitova, while Karolina Pliskova made the teams even again by beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3 6-4. Czech Karolina Pliskova and Barbora Strycova had the upper hand in doubles, winning the deciding fifth match of the tie by defeating Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Elena Vesnina 4-6 6-3 6-2.

Our photographer Jimmie48 came to Prague as early as on Thursday, so we covered the event straight from the o2 Arena all the way to the big final. Photos:
