Stars of the women’s tennis world were out in full force on the red carpet of the Guangzhou International Women’s Open players’ party.
Top seed and world number two Simona Halep wore a bold floral dress and pumps. The Romanian is through to the quarterfinals, where she will face Czech Denisa Allertova.
Number two seed Andrea Petkovic opted for a chic turtleneck and a nude leather miniskirt. On the court, however, the German did not look as cool and collected, as she was toppled 6-4 6-1 by Monica Puig in the first round.
Fifth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova chose a subdued, beige shirt and pants combination. The Russian made the quarterfinals where she will face Jelena Janovic, who had a historic day on the court on Wednesday.
Jankovic, wearing a stripy maxi dress and red heels in the photo above, defeated fellow veteran Francesca Schiavone 7-5 4-6 6-4 in a grueling match that lasted 2 hours and 57 minutes in the second round. This win makes her the third active player to reach 600 career victories behind the Williams sisters. Congratulations, Jelena! (photos via @khristin02, @cwraypova, @Tennisfocuson, @WTA)
