WTA stars gather at the Doha players’ party, Serena hits the Oscars

After Dubai, women’s tennis action has moved to Doha, where the WTA is closing its Middle Eastern swing. The $731,000 Premier-level Qatar Total Open gathered five Top 10 names, world No.2 Maria Sharapova is ready for her competition in Acapulco, Mexico, and top-ranked Serena Williams joined the movie stars while waiting for her big Indian Wells return. Let’s see how our WTA players spent the Sunday night.

Victoria Azarenka, Agnieszka Radwanska, Caroline Wozniacki and Petra Kvitova enjoyed their time together at the Qatar Total Open gala party. Out of the four, the only past Doha champion is Vika, who won the tournament twice, in 2012 and 2013, and today the Belarusian stretched her Doha winning streak to 11 by defeating eighth seed Angelique Kerber 6-0 6-3 in the first round.

German trio Sabine Lisicki, Andrea Petkovic and Anna-Lena Groenefeld also joined the gala night.

We’re hearing more and more of Zarina Diyas, who is at her career-high ranking of 31 this week, and the Kazakh was at the party, too.

Elina Svitolina opted for a casual smart look and was happy to show it on Twitter.

And last but not least, as mentioned in the introduction, while spending some time off until her next tournament in mid March, Serena Williams got super glamorous for Sunday’s 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills. Let the picture do the talking!

  1. Serena looks so fab! It’s a good decision for Maria to play Acapulco this year. That would ensure another title as well as spending more time with Grigor. It’s a win-win situation for her.

  2. Where was Venus ? Who did she hang out with? Get some pics of Vee. Why some other seeded players didn’t play Acapluco? Easy points and money for Sugarpova. Serena looks gorgeous .

  3. Jade, no photos of Venus from the players party — not on her social networking profiles, not on the WTA website and not on the Qatar Open Facebook. I also noticed that she was missing. As for top players skipping Acapulco, a lot of them are playing Doha, Halep has to rest, several players opted for Monterrey and Serena is traditionally playing a small number of tournaments.
