Childhood Photos of WTA Players is one of the most visited sections of Women’s Tennis Blog and today is a perfect occasion to share with you a baby pic of a tennis legend. Who’s the baby lying next to her big sis? Of course, it’s easy… it’s Serena Williams, before she could even walk, cared by her big sister Venus.
Thirty-three years ago, on this very day, Serena Williams was born in Saginaw, Michigan, USA, as the youngest of five sisters, Lyndrea, Isha, Yetunde and Venus. The little sis joined the tennis world at age five at public courts in Compton, California, and the rest is history, well known even to those not following the sport.
Serena has so many accomplishments in her career that it’s hard for me to even sum them up, not to mention to list them all! Therefore, I’ll cite the WTA website:
We’re talking 18 Grand Slams, four WTA Finals titles, another 41 WTA titles, 207 weeks at No.1, 13 Grand Slam doubles titles, two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles, over $60 million in career prize money – and to top it all off, she’s such a dominant World No.1 right now that she has more than one and a half times the ranking points as the current No.2 player in the world.
