For the first time in her career, world number three Li Na managed to defend her title and she did that in only the second ever all-Chinese WTA final, at the Shenzhen Open against Peng Shuai. The top-seeded Li first took out Vera Zvonareva, then Nadiya Kichenok, Monica Niculescu, eighth seed Annika Beck and finally fifth seed Peng Shuai 6-4 7-5. Peng is now 0-6 in WTA finals.

Li also played the only previous all-Chinese final at the 2006 Estoril Open in 2006, but then she retired with heat illness against Zheng Jie after the second set. (photo: © Neal Trousdale)
