Italian Camila Giorgi, best-known for her style and her fourth-round appearance at Wimbledon 2012, has once again attracted attention to herself, by ousting sixth seed Caroline Wozniacki in the third round of the US Open. The 21-year-old qualifier Giorgi from the beginning challenged Wozniacki on her way to a 4-6 6-4 6-3 victory at night on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

In her last seven Grand Slam appearances, the former No.1 and the 2009 US Open finalist Wozniacki has made the fourth round just once, and this time, after battling past Duan Ying-Ying in the first round and cruising past Chanelle Scheepers in the second, had she managed to overcome the ultra-aggressive 136th-ranked Giorgi, the draw wouldn’t have given Wozniacki a higher seeded opponent up until at least the semis. But Giorgi had other plans and eliminated the Dane, together with her fashion-disaster dress.
