Li Na makes easy progress at Wimbledon

Sixth seed Li Na raced past Michaella Krajicek, a big-hitting 2007 Wimbledon quarterfinalist who hadn’t been in the main draw of the tournament since 2008. Li hit 29 winners to 12 unforced errors and made Krajicek’s comeback just 61 minutes long with a 6-1 6-1 victory.

The 24-year-old Krajicek is the sister of 1996 men’s Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek. Due to health problems in the recent years her ranking has dropped to 575, while in 2008 she reached a career-high of No.30.

In the second round Li will play Simona Halep, who advanced with a 6-2 3-6 6-3 win over Olga Govortsova.

Seed No.14 Samantha Stosur also cruised into the second round, by beating Slovakian teenager Anna Schmiedlova 6-1 6-3. (photo: © Neal Trousdale)
