Sharapova about Serena: “Maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids”

Wow! Hard words are being fired at Wimbledon grounds ahead of the grand tournament and between none other than two biggest women’s tennis star – Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams.

As published in Rolling Stone, Serena supposedly referred to Sharapova as one-dimensional, while also making hints about the Russian’s new boyfriend, Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov.

There are people who live, breathe and dress tennis. I mean, seriously, give it a rest. She begins every interview with ‘I’m so happy. I’m so lucky’ – it’s so boring. She’s still not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart, go for it.

In today’s pre-Wimbledon press conference, Sharapova lashed out at Serena, directly criticizing her relationship with Patrick Mouratoglou, who was married until recently.

If she wants to talk about something personal, maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids. Talk about other things, but not draw attention to other things.

  1. Serena never mentions Sharapova’s name. If Sharapova thought it was about her, then there must be some truth to it. But for Sharapova to criticize Serena for getting “personal” and turn around and get very “personal” is just classless. And her brand depends on the “good girl act” more than Serena’s.

  2. Well it seems that all the players have problems with Serena (first stephens and now sharapova), maybe because she is dominating the sport or because she is so successful on and off court!!! they must get a life !!!! Serena has been so respectful for all the players… People keeps hating and Serena Keeps winning and make records 😉

  3. Serena is an amazing athlete; but, she has no class! The only thing bigger than her ego is her derriere! She should keep her opinions about other people to herself and expend the energy on etiquette classes!

  4. I’m on neither side in this cat fight. I find it interesting though. Interesting insofar it provides yet another data point that further validates the Petey Detruse “Rule of Signifying Millionairesses.”

In condensed qualitative form: “Money can’t buy you happiness or good deportment.”

Here’s the thing, the networks covering Wimbledon will eat this stuff up.

They do it like a guy putting hot sauce on a tired burrito. The amazing tennis is not enough to create “buzz,” there needs to be some “other” conflict animating the game. If I can’t tell the story of how footwork impacts a point, I’ll regale you with stories about how Serena and Maria are talking smack.

No, and to put it ebonicly, “I ain’t wid it.” I’m into the PROFESSIONAL women’s tennis. Excuse me, I meant, professional women’s TENNIS.

With emphasis on the WOMEN’S part of that noun phrase.

Right now, I am so anxious. I’m wondering what Jelena The Body Jankovic is going to wear — and I’m not talking about her dress either.

    You know.

    Yeah.

    So what have we learned?

It’s all about JJ. Serena, Maria — you’re rich. You’re healthy. Enjoy it before God changes her mind. Ease back. Move on out of the way and let a pretty Serbian make a brother glad to be a man with nothing but a panty line and a down the line backhand.

    Go JJ!

  5. I just don’t get it. Why would Serena talk about Maria? Sharapova was obviously pissed off in that interview, i’m not surprised, but I think she shouldn’t have said anything. If Serena referred to Sharapova in that article, well i would say it was just mean and completely unnecessary or actually there is something that we don’t know about…

  6. Hm, I agree with Merlisa’s comment that there was no need for Sharapova to be so direct as Serena never even mentioned her name. Besides, people are getting divorced because of a new partner all the time, so I don’t see what’s so outrageous about it.
As far as Sharapova’s personality I read some interviews with other players who described her as an aloof person who doesn’t like to hang out with anyone and is all about the business,so… maybe Serena was onto something.

  7. Who cares about 16 grandslam trophies when the person who owns them is so low to make fun of her colleague! She was obiously making fun of Maria in that interview, to don’t need to be a psychic to realize about that! Maria has all the right to defend herself!! Serena you are the best tennis player in the world right now! You don’t need to talk crap about the other players to be in the spotlight let your tennis talk for you! And make us a favor and don’t open your mouth to say bad things about Maria or Vika or Caroline or anybody else! If you don’t have anything good to say about a person don’t speak and be quiet!
