Serena Williams in Harper’s Bazaar and Sports Illustrated

Serena Williams in Harper's BazaarSerena Williams has just won her fourth Wimbledon crown, and to celebrate, she shows off her silhouette in a stunning spread for the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar, on newsstands July 20. In the photo spread, Serena showcases her Fendi dress and sports a swimsuit by Eres.

In the interview, the 13-time Grand Slam champion in singles opens up about her body image, embracing her curves, and dating, revealing the reason behind breaking up with rapper Common. Plus, Williams, now in top shape and looking her best, shares her diet and fitness regimen.

On her body image:

I was 23 when I realized that I wasn’t Venus. She’s totally different. I’m super curvy. I have big boobs and this massive butt. She’s tall and she’s like a model and she fits everything. I was growing up, wanting to be her, wanting to look like her, and I was always fitting in her clothes, but then one day I couldn’t. But it’s fine. Now I’m obviously good, but it’s a weird thing. . . . To this day, I don’t love my arms. People want more fit arms, but my arms are too fit. But I’m not complaining. They pay my bills.

On beauty:

Since I don’t look like every other girl, it takes a while to be okay with that. To be different. But different is good. I feel so much sexier with short hair. I wanted to reach inside me and feel better. I don’t want to hide behind a facade of hair.

In addition, the world No.1 American will be featured on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated and the headline is “Serena Williams: Love Her, Hate Her. She’s the Best Ever.” Pretty true.

Also, I thought you would like to see this short commercial featuring Serena, especially in light of our article about the Wimbledon past. Check out what happens when the queen of aces travels in time and plays Wimbledon.

Don’t forget that Serena hit 89 aces en route to her fourth Wimbledon title, 59 more than her sister Venus who came in second in the list of ace leaders at the tournament.

Agreed, she and Venus don’t look they same, but they are both really fit and pretty in their own ways. But I’m not a fan of the short hair in the first photo, it’s so close to her head, making it look really large. Love the white swimsuit though.

Lilly, I also like Serena’s figure, that’s her and she wouldn’t be as authentic and easily recognizable if it wasn’t for her unique looks (mainly her “massive butt”).

    El, thank you. 🙂

Trent, thanks for the suggestion. I’ll have it in mind, maybe I’ll write about it later today.
