Ana Ivanovic

Seed No.25 Ana Ivanovic followed up her win over fellow Serb Novak Djokovic and Spice Girl Mel B (yes, that counts!) with a comfortable 6-4 6-3 victory over qualifier Pauline Parmentier to advance to the third round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

The victory should give a little boost to Ivanovic’s shaken confidence, now even being hit by the 22-year-old’s drop out of Top 50 for the first time since 2005. The last match Ivanovic won prior to today’s one had been at the Australian Open in January, and the former world No.1 has now ended her four-match losing streak, the longest for the 2008 French Open champion since turning professional.

  1. Yesss!!!!! So happy to see her not only in, but do so in straight sets! Now beat Aga and we may be onto something. 🙂

  2. I think Ana has what it takes to beat Agniezka. If she is focused and doesn’t let the nerves get to her she should be able to do it.

  3. WOw aggie in the next round! How unfortunate. I think it will be a great match nevertheless. I give Ana the edge in it because I still have confidence she will prevail and do well in tennis. I hope she starts her winning streak right here in Miami.

  4. oh, and by the way…just saw the order of play for tomorrow! Dementieva is so unlucky! She plays Henin again in the second round. I have a feeling that match will be epic!

What are your prediction/expectations for the players at this tournament Marija? I hope the Serbs excel and do well as always! I am skeptical about Ana as her recover is an ongoing “process”, but JJ and Nole will hopefully shine. Also, Azarenka is in the tournament and I think she will be a highlight! I hope she rocks. Clijsters will not do too well I think. hmmm…I have nothing left to say for now aside from a possible early exit from Venus?

  5. Yeah, Elena is probably the unluckiest player on the tour right now. I think Justine will need 2 sets to beat her. She is also getting into the rhythm, I wonder if we’ll see some great clash with Clijsters as in Brisbane.

  6. Ajde Ana 🙂 If she plays agressive and confident, she will beat Aga easily. Piece of cake for Ana 😛

  7. I’m glad to see ana winning again, she definitely can beat Radwanska, she already did that 3 times.

  8. Why is everybody so confident about Ana beating Aga? I’m glad to see Ana win, but lets take an easy here. She is still in a slump of epic proportions while Radwanska just made the semi’s in IW last week. I really hope Ana wins of course. 🙂

  9. I put the most hopes in Henin, especially now that she defeated Dementieva. Bb, why do you think Venus will be out soon? I wouldn’t say so.

  10. Ah well, farewell, Ana. She lost but to a top 10 player, so… Nevermind, it’s not the end of the road.
Marija, I think Venus will hang around for a while. I think she should make it at least to the semis.

  11. I love venus, do not get me wrong. I just have this innate feeling that she will lose soon. But then again, I said Ana will win, and boy was I wrong!! I’m skeptical wit Venus, but I agree with Marija…Henin will make the breakthrough very very soon.

Marija, what is your bet for the finals? I think it will hopefully be JJ, but I am skeptical…her part of the draw is BRUTAL! Stousar, Vesnina, Clijsters, Wozniaki, Henin!

  12. oh i didn’t mean to be rude or anything, sorry if you got that feeling. even though i’m not Marija, i think Venus will be in the finals. But other people i’m not sure, im HOPING Stosur, but i think perhaps clijsters. never really liked henin. dunno why?
