Maria Sharapova

Because of bad weather, only today did Maria Sharapova finish her yesterday’s match, and she had to play another one on the same day. Fortunately, both finished victoriously for the Russian.

The former world No.1 needed only two minutes to wrap up a rain-delayed second-round match with Alexa Glatch, and win it 6-3 6-4. Next for Sharapova was seventh seed Francesca Schiavone, and she raced past her 6-1 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon warmup event.

  1. Thank you for posting! She’s doing very well on grass. Hopefully she’ll make it into her first semifinal since her comeback. 🙂

  2. Despite serving 11 double faults (yikes!), Maria managed to win the match against last year’s finalist Yanina Wickmayer 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. It all slipped when Maria was broken early in the second set. But we know Maria, she fights and comes back anyway. Well done! Other nice statistics are serving 7 aces and having more than 60% of her first serves in.

However, she still have problems with her double faults. You have to see how hard her second serve is and where she aims them at. She tries to produce an ace on a second serve!

Anyway, Maria will be having a re-match against Li Na in the semifinals to be played tomorrow. Hopefully Maria will move past her and won’t allow Li Na to have her revenge. 😛

    Good luck!

  3. Teerin, thank you for another wonderful report! 🙂 I’m going to write about Maria’s win now.
