Jelena DokicJelena Dokic’s career-reviving run to the 2009 Australian Open quarterfinals has brought her some additional financial fruits in the form of an endorsement deal with Lacoste, believed to be potentially worth close to $4.4 million over three years.

We could see the 25-year-old Dokic dressed in Lacoste at the ongoing Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, where she reached the second round, but her further progress was stopped there by Caroline Wozniacki.

After becoming the most-talked about person at this year’s Australian Open, Dokic, who is now represented by management giant IMG, also entered into a lucrative arrangement with Australian budget airline Jetstar. (source: The Age, photo: Ralf Reinecke)

  1. I hope Jelena will recharge her batteries and repeat the kind of success she had at the Australian Open. She definitely spiced up the tournament and refreshed the WTA Tour.

  2. This is great news for Jelena. I love the classy, quality look of Lacoste. Looking forward to another good run for her. So great to watch in Australia.

  3. Marija, do you think Jelena’s success was sensationalised, or perhaps this my personal interpretation considering she appeared in program featurettes every five minutes during prime time Australian tv. If our Australian open crowd was mobile and accompanied her during every tournament, perhaps such exponential success could eventuate… Otherwise as she stated herself, the tournament would be rather futile without the [critical] support of the crowd.

  4. Zuleika, I believe it was, but her success was extraordinary nevertheless.

It was probably most sensationalized in Australia, because she was an Aussie making upset after upset at her home Grand Slam.

  5. TO Marija on March 31st, 2009:

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU! HOPE SHE CAN MAKE A SERIOUS COMPETITION FOR THE GIRLS!! I KINDA FEEL BORED OF NONSTABILITY OF THE WTATOUR PLAYERS.(EXCEPTION ARE WILLIAMS OF COURSE)
MY DREAM IS A COMEBACK OF JUSTINE HENIN THOUGH…

  6. So if she’s a sub-par player how can she make “serious competition” for the girls? Dokic has wasted her career. Why? How many players refuse to put together a “legitimate” a.k.a real coaching/training team for their entire pro career and expect to win? Jelena Dokic has revealed herself to be a player who’s not serious about excelling at the sport. first 4 year with daddy, = no coaching & no fitness training. Next 6 years with bikic brothers = no coaching & no fitness training. She’s just providing sex & money for bikics. Jelena Dokic is a disgrace to aussie tennis and herself! This is what happens when a female is raised without self-respect.
