Hungarian Greta Arn dating Olympic medalist Zsolt Nemcsik

With the Olympic Games approaching fast, occasion is perfect to enrich our WTA Players and their Boyfriends/Husbands series with the information about a couple of a women's tennis player and an Olympic medalist – Hungarians Greta Arn and her famous boyfriend Zsolt Nemcsik.

The 33-year-old Arn is the winner of two WTA titles (Auckland and Estoril) and her highest ranking was No.40, achieved in May 2011. Her boyfriend, 34, is a sabre fencer and one of his greatest achievements was a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Thank you, Patty, for telling me about Arn's boyfriend and contributing to our series, which is so far featuring the marriages of Karolina Sprem, Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and Elena Dementieva. Stay tuned, a lot more content is waiting to be added! Also, feel free to send me your tips about the partners of WTA players via Women's Tennis Blog's contact form. (photos: WTA, © Neal Trousdale)

Mercury Insurance Open: Dominika Cibulkova clinches second WTA title

In their first meeting in almost four years, second seed Dominika Cibulkova defeated good friend and top seed Marion Bartoli 6-1 7-5 in the final of the Mercury Insurance Open for her second WTA title and second Premier one.

Before their encounter in the final, Bartoli said:

Dominika and I love to practice with each other. We've practiced many times. We have been best friends since so many years now. It's obviously a final, so we're going to try our best to win, but it's great to play against your best friend, because even if you lose, you're happy for them.

After losing the first game of the match, Cibulkova won the next six to win the first set, while in the second she was trailing 4-1 before taking six of the next seven games and winning the match to add the Carlsbad title to her last year's MoscowRead more »

Polona Hercog defends Sony Swedish Open title

Polona Hercog of Slovenia lost the first seven games of the Sony Swedish Open final against world No.83 Mathilde Johansson, but revived, took the second set and survived her opponent's surge from 1-5 to 5-all in the third to eventually win 0-6 6-4 7-5, thus defending her Bastad title, where she had won her first and by today only WTA title.

The success is reviving Hercog's 2012 season, in which she hadn't won a match in two and a half months. Many first-round losses and withdrawals due to a back injury caused Hercog's slump in the rankings by 50 spots, to her current No.86.

En route to the title, before Johansson in the final, Hercog defeated Alexandra Panova in the first round, seed No.2 Julia Goerges in the second, Tsvetana Pironkova in the quarters and seed No.7 Mona Barthel in the semis.

The claycourt Bastad title has brought Hercog $37,000. (source: WTA Tour, photo via Swedish Open)

Victoria Azarenka – from holding a chimp to being a champ

Visiting Victoria Azarenka's official Facebook page for her hot InStyle magazine photoshoot pics, I came across this wonderful childhood photo of the world number one WTA player. A comment from Facebook user Hilal Abdullah perfectly titles this picture: "From holding a chimp to being a champ". :)

This is not the first photo of the little Belarusian that we've seen. Remember the one we shared last November, with the mini Vika holding tight to her racquet and looking upwards to her aspiring future? So sweet!

Do browse through our complete collection of childhood photos of women's tennis players. You will see many cute treasures!

JJ to move in her luxury mansion soon

According to our records, about four and a half years ago Jelena Jankovic started building a house of her dreams in San Diego County, more precisely in Rancho Santa Fe, according to Wikipedia "regularly first or second on the list of highest income communities in the United States with at least 1,000 households." Now we have information that the 20,000 foot mansion in the exclusive community is undergoing the finishing touches and the luxury-loving tennis star will soon move in, probably by the end of the year.

The huge house has eight bedrooms, a ten-car garage, gym, pool, tennis court, theater and sauna, probably among other things, and JJ is actually going to enjoy it fully only when she retires, since now she's constantly on the road. However, only in career prize money Jankovic has earned $13,114,142 so far. You have to spend it somewhere and the Serb considers real estate the best investment.

Playing the nearby Mercury Insurance Open, Jankovic had the opportunity to visit the property that's currently mostly managed by her father Veselin. At the tournament JJ is the third seed and in the Thursday's second round she fought off 20 break opportunities to edge Melinda Czink 2-6 6-4 6-4. Her quarterfinal opponent is set to be Chan Jan-yung. (source: Tennis.com, photo: Ralf Reinecke)
