Casey Dellacqua earns wildcard into Australian Open main draw

Casey DellacquaCasey Dellacqua defeated Olivia Rogowska 1-6 7-6(9) 6-3 at the Australian Open Play-off and earned her spot in the main draw of Australian Open 2010.

Dellacqua trailed 2-5 in the second set and even saved three match points en route to winning the wildcard.

Remember, Australia's Dellacqua was the story of her home Grand Slam in 2008, when she reached the fourth round defeating Patty Schnyder and Amelie Mauresmo along the way?

Ana Ivanovic presents her adidas dresses for Australian Open and Roland Garros 2010

Only yesterday were we speculating what WTA players would be wearing at the start of the 2010 season, and now we already have one confirmationAna Ivanovic will certainly sport the yellow and red adidas adilibria dresses in the year to come.

Ivanovic will wear the yellow version of the dress at the Australian Open, while the red one is planned for the French Open.

The dresses are made of 100% recycled PES (polyester) and are part of the adidas sustainable Better Place range. ClimaCool® moisture management technology is included in the upper back and neck area, which keeps player’s body as cool as possible.

The adidas Barricade V will be Ivanovic's shoes of choice.

Dinara Safina enters Brisbane International

Dinara SafinaThis is a bit old news that I didn't have time to report earlier: Dinara Safina has entered the Brisbane International, a warm-up tournament for the Australian Open, despite the serious back injury which forced her to pull out of the Sony Ericsson Championships and threatened her participation in the first Grand Slam of the year.

"The Brisbane International will be the perfect tournament to get some tough match practice in the lead-up to the Australian Open. I am looking forward to the challenge and I cannot wait to get there," said Safina who handed Serena Williams the year-end No.1 ranking by withdrawing from the Sony Ericsson Championships.
