Serena Williams wins Sony Ericsson Open in MiamiWe’re still talking about Miami's Sony Ericsson Open, well it's not often called the fifth Grand Slam for nothing. As you know, Serena Williams won this last one and collected her fifth title at the prestigious event. So what’s the secret behind Serena’s domination at the Sony Ericsson Open? Here’s what she herself says:

Ok so I had a pretty decent tournament and people want to know why I have won there 5 times… Hummm well I have so many friends that come out to the tournament! All my friends from Palm Beach everything. So when I come to play in Miami if I lose too many people will be mad at me! So that's my secret!

Serena also stated how she has never been angrier after winning a tournament and added: "I feel like I should have won that final easier, but after all a win is a win right???" That's right, Serena. (source: Serena's official site, photo via Yahoo)

Serena Williams focuses on tennis, acting makes her little money

Serena Willliams wins Sony Ericsson Open titleAt times Serena Williams fancied herself an actress or fashion designer, but after the memorable triumph in the Sony Ericsson Open final, the world No.8 said tennis is again her priority.

"Right now, tennis is my number one goal," said the five-time Sony Ericsson Open champion. "I actually haven't done anything in acting in a while because I have been so focused.

"You know, I wasn't making as much money (acting). So I got to go back to the bread and butter.

"Like I always said I love tennis. I just love the sport. More than anything I love winning."

Serena Williams beats battling Jelena Jankovic for fifth Sony Ericsson Open title

Serena Williams beats battling Jelena Jankovic for fifth Sony Ericsson Open titleWhat a final! Before saying anything I must congratulate both players, especially Jelena Jankovic for not giving up and making the Sony Ericsson Open final more than worth watching. Still, better tennis was definitely displayed by Serena Williams and the final score 6-1 5-7 6-3 shows it.

This match was so fantastic, that I could write five pages about it, but will try to make it short.

The first set started calmly, with both players holding their first service games without trouble. But from the third game onwards, eight games in a row belonged to Williams, that was up until 6-1 3-0. World No.3 Jankovic rarely shot winners, made many errors, wasn't moving as well as she can, and her weak serve was killing her. Williams’ serve, on the other hand, worked exceptionally well, she hit winners, and the Serb won only few points on Williams' serve. Read more »

Serena Williams beats Svetlana Kuznetsova to move into finals in Miami

Serena Williams beats Svetlana Kuznetsova at Sony Ericsson OpenSerena Williams has once again shown she feels good in Miami. The world No.8 came back from a set down to defeat Svetlana Kuznetsova and reach the championship match when she'll fight for her fifth Sony Ericsson Open title.

Eighth-seeded Williams won today's semifinal 3-6 7-5 6-3 after 2 hours and 47 minutes. The fans enjoyed an entertaining match, uncertain up until the last point.

Third-seeded Kuznetsova won the first set, and was within sight of victory at 5-5 in the second, but Williams took the match to the third set. In the decider, out of the nine games played, there were five breaks of serve and a total of fourteen break points. You can imagine the uncertainty.

Serena Williams was victorious in the finals of Miami in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007. She lost the final there only once, in 1999. If Williams wins the Sony Ericsson Open again, she’ll tie Steffi Graf’s record of five titles in Miami.

Serena Williams downs Justine Henin, reaches Miami semifinals

Serena Williams reaches Miami semifinalsSerena Williams dominated world No.1 Justine Henin in the quarterfinal of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. Final score 6-2 6-0.

In the beginning, games were long and each one contained break points. However, eighth-seeded Williams scored at more important moments and established a 3-0 lead. Even though Henin afterwards won her service game for the first time and returned the break, her luck was short-lived. From that point on, every game up until the end of the match went into Serena’s hands!

Top-seeded Henin seemed frightened and timid, while Williams went towards her goal focused and strong. Well, who can blame Henin for being afraid. Last year she lost to Serena in the Sony Ericsson Open final, having won the first set 6-0. And that's not all. Serena has collected four titles at the Sony Ericsson Open, while Jusine's 41 career titles don't include one from the tournament in Miami. (photo via Getty Images)
