Absolutely no troubles for Serena Williams in US Open fourth round

Serena WilliamsSecond seed Serena Williams lost just two games against seed No.22 Daniela Hantuchova to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2009 US Open.

The Slovakian world No.24 was a good competitor until 2-2 in the first set, but since then, before you knew it, the American defending US Open champion won the match by winning all the following games.

Nevertheless, Hantuchova has made her best US Open run since a quarterfinal finish as a teenager in 2002.

Safina or Sanowa? Richard Williams would say "whatever"

Richard WilliamsRichard Williams, the father of Serena and Venus Williams, is either playing a game on us or he really can’t remember the name of the top-ranked women’s tennis player.

"I think she's playing great tennis," Richard said about Dinara Safina. "I think she deserves to be No. 1. I'll tell ya something else, no one wants to play Sanowa, or whatever her name is. That girl hits that ball."

Is it possible that he can’t remember the simple word "Safina"? Hehe, whatever, he made me laugh, plus, Safina received a compliment – so it's all good. (Observer via Forty Deuce)

US Open warns: players should be cautious of what they post on Twitter

Serena Williams tweeting

The US Open is warning players, their coaches, agents, family members, as well as tournament staff, to be careful of the information they reveal on the social networking site Twitter, so as not to violate anti-corruption rules.

Signs, written by the Tennis Integrity Unit, are being posted in the players' lounge, locker rooms and referee's office. The signs are warning that tweeting is not allowed on court during matches. But that’s not all – off-court tweeting is also under radar: "certain sensitive information concerning your match or other matches and/or players should be avoided. Depending on the information sent out this could be determined as the passing of inside information."

I’m wondering what Serena Williams thinks about this. She has almost 1 million followers on Twitter, and tweeting, anyplace and anytime, is one of her favorite activities.
