Buy Life is thanking all the donors whose donations will help bring critical care and medicine to the millions affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. However, they are saying that many people still need help and you can continue to buy life.

But there's another "however". I noticed it, but sort of didn't believe it and overlooked it, so I didn't even mention it in the first place, but now that I see people blogging about it, I realize it wasn't a bad dream. Serena's Twitter profile was actually updated during the time it should have been dead!

And that's not all, fellow tennis blogger Forty Deuce played Sherlock Holmes and gave us a shocking and disappointing revelation on who donated the large portion of the money.

Serena Williams and Nike during 2010 tennis season

There is a big diversity in brands that top women's tennis players are wearing, and in this year's retrospections we have already covered Fila with Kim Clijsters, adidas by Stella McCartney with Caroline Wozniacki, Yonex with Elena Dementieva, but let's see how probably the strongest brand out there, Nike, contributed to tennis fashion in 2010 on the example of their highest-ranked representative – Serena Williams.

Serena may have missed the whole second part of the season, and her participation in tournaments was scarce in the first half of the year, but her on-court style and diversity didn't suffer for that.

Nike had a new dress for Serena's every tournament, except for the below pink dress which she wore both in Rome and Madrid. The second photo shows Serena's doubles outfit for Madrid.

Serena Williams dies digitally for World AIDS Day and Buy Life

Serena Williams dead for Buy Life, HIV AIDS December 1, Keep a Child AliveToday is World AIDS Day and Serena Williams died a digital death for Alicia Keys’ initiative called Buy Life, aimed at financing medical care and support services for children and families affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa and India. It’s all part of Keys’ charity organization, Keep a Child Alive.

By digital death it’s implied that Serena will not update her social media accounts, most famously Twitter, until fans donate $1 million. Of course, Serena is accompanied by other top celebrities in this fund-raising.

Alicia Keys is calling to action: "You’re always texting your friends. Now, you’re going to text to Buy Life."

What do you think of dying a digital death? Even though at first glance it doesn’t look as much of a sacrifice, when you think about it it’s a great initiative. Firstly, social media accounts of celebrities have great influence. Secondly, it is the first fund-raising of the kind. And finally, it seems to be having success, as BuyLive.com is dying as well, because a lot of people are buying life.

Breaking news: Serena Williams withdraws from Australian Open 2011

Serena Williams at the Australian OpenWhen Serena Williams withdrew from the Hopman Cup it was hinted that she could also skip the 2011 Australian Open, but now it is official that Serena will not be defending her title at the Grand Slam in Melbourne. The reason is again her foot injury, which has been standing behind her withdrawals from tournaments ever since she won Wimbledon in the middle of the past season.

Here’s part of Serena’s statement:

As I recently learned, pushing myself back into my intense training too early only caused me further injury and damage. While I desperately want to be back on the court and competing in the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, it is imperative for my health that I continue to work with my doctors to ensure my foot heals properly. This decision, though heavy on my heart, is the right one. I am praying for a healthy recovery and I promise my Aussie fans and my fans around the world that I will be back better than ever as soon as I can be.

As you can see, the actual moment Serena will finally come back to competitive tennis is still absolutely unknown. (source: Tennis Australia, photo: burntfilm)
