After Miami, Serena arrives in London, makes Burberry fashion show her first stop

Just like Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams is staying away from competitive tennis in-between Roland Garros and Wimbledon and uses the time off to visit red carpet events and enjoy some pure pleasure moments. While Sharapova attended Rihanna's concert in London, Serena hit Miami beach three days ago.

Serena Williams dethrones Maria Sharapova, clinches second French Open crown

I don't remember it had ever before happened that all the major tennis commentators expected the same player to win a Grand Slam, but prior to this French Open all the predictions were united for world No.1 Serena Williams and they proved to be  right – in the Saturday's high-quality final, the American continued her dominance over world No.2 Maria Sharapova, the second biggest favorite for the title, and lifted the Couple Suzanne Lenglen, for the first time since 2002. It is Serena's 16th Grand Slam and her head-to-head record against Sharapova is 14-2 now, not having lost to the Russian since 2004. Read more »

Serena Williams powers into French Open final, Sharapova awaits

As expected, Serena Williams was absolutely ruthless against poor Sara Errani and the match can best be summed up by the fact that the Italian celebrated the winning of her first game, which happened in the tenth game of the encounter, as if she won at least the set. That game turned out to be the one and only game Errani won in the entire semifinal.

Who would have thought that Errani played the final of this same Grand Slam just last year! But anyone who faces Serena nowadays has a 90% chance to just hit the wall. Can you imagine, Serena hit 40 winners in the 46-minute match!

In the big championships match, Williams will face defending champion Maria Sharapova, who overcame Victoria Azarenka earlier in the day. Since the start of the tournament Williams and Sharapova have been by far the biggest favorites for the trophy. Will Sharapova be able to stop Serena? Considering Serena's dominance and the fact that she has not lost to the Russian since 2004, having beaten her in their last ten matches, Sharapova will need all the luck in the world. Serena Williams in swimsuit on the cover of ESSENCE

"It’s important to look in the mirror and say I love myself" are the words of wisdom from the world No.1 Serena Williams for her feature in the July 2013 "Body Issue" of the ESSENCE magazine.

The 31-year-old tennis star graces the cover in a blue ombre Carmen Marc Valvo swimsuit alongside the message "Love Your Body!". Serena also tells the story about her pulmonary embolism and how she learned to handle the attention her curves receive.

In on-court news, after battling past the 2009 French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova in today's quarterfinals in Paris, Serena shared her confused thoughts and feelings:

It was a very tough match today, but it's good for me because, I don't know, but it's very good. I am exhausted.

Williams, Errani progress to the semifinals of Roland Garros

World No.1 Serena Williams reached the French Open semifinals for the first time since 2003 with a challenging victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova, thus avenging the 2009 loss to the Russian at the same stage of the same tournament. Awaiting Williams in the semifinals is last year's runner-up Sara Errani, who was victorious against Agnieszka Radwanska.

For the 207th time in her career Williams was triumphant after winning the first set at a Grand Slam (she has only five such losses), although it was not as easy as her previous matches at this year's Roland Garros in which she dropped a total of 10 games. Read more »

Close look at Nike Wimbledon dresses for Sharapova and Williams

Tennis fashion is flourishing at Roland Garros this fortnight, but Nike is already well-prepared for Wimbledon, the queen of Grand Slams. Actually, back in March when we got a glimpse at the Roland Garros dresses for Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams, we also saw the previews of their Nike dresses for Wimbledon, but now we can have a closer look.

Kuznetsova vs. Williams – the first quarterfinal set up at Roland Garros

The first quarterfinal pair of the 2013 French Open is a clash of two women who had already lifted the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen – Serena Williams and Svetlana Kuznetsova. Let's first mention that Serena leads their head-to-head 6-2, but it was Kuznetsova who won their only meeting at the French Open, at the same stage of the tournament four years ago, en route to winning the title. Roland Garros 2013: who wins the battle of WTA tennis fashion?

Roland Garros 2013 is gaining momentum and after the rain-affected Day 3 we already have enough material to assess the quality of the Grand Slam regarding fashion, as we have been doing with all the major tournaments since 2010.

World number one and absolute favorite for the Roland Garros 2013 title Serena Williams is working the solid grey Nike Women's Summer 1 Wrap Knit Dress with orange shorts underneath. The band below the chest highlights the waist, the slit on the skirt brings extra elegance, while the upper part of the dress is characterized by the V-neck and elastic tank straps.

Ana Ivanovic is wearing the wonderful Adidas Women's Roland Garros 2013 Dress in navy with orange accents – in my opinion the prettiest dress of the tournament and perfect color combination for red clay. Read more »
