Fila and Sharapova Nike for the start of 2013

We've already had a glimpse at Stella McCartney's dress for Caroline Wozniacki's Australian Open campaign and we've seen the Adidas dress intended for Ana Ivanovic, Daniela Hantuchova and others wearing the line, so now that we found the pictures of the Nike dress Maria Sharapova will most probably wear at the upcoming Australian Open and a new Fila dress, we can't help but notice that everything is yellow!

I can't believe it, but just like Adidas, the color combination of Maria Sharapova's rumored Nike dress is yellow and grey. Here you can see the rest of the collection, including separates and other colors.

Fila went for bright yellow with huge open back and a black bra showing completely. Will this provocative Baseline Cami Dress be worn by Jelena Jankovic and Julia Goerges, the new addition to the Fila team?

Below the cut you can see how the Adidas dresses we showed you last month are looking on Wozniacki and Ivanovic. Read more »

Julia Goerges switches from Nike to Fila

Fila always saves big news for the start of the season – last January they welcomed Jelena Jankovic from Anta and Vera Zvonareva from K-Swiss and this January German world No.18 Julia Goerges has joined the Fila family. A great and necessary move for the clothing company, who has lost their biggest and most loyal star when Kim Clijsters retired after the 2012 US Open.

Goerges, who was previously sponsored by Nike, debuted her Fila apparel in the first round of the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, against Anastasija Sevastova. Her 2013 opener was victorious, but she lost in the second round to Johanna Larsson 7-5 6-7(1) 6-3. (source: Julia Goerges' Facebook page)

Julia Goerges joins Rado luxury watch family

On October 25th in Berlin, at the European launch of the new HyperChrome collection, Swiss luxury watch maker Rado named Julia Goerges their latest brand ambassador. The 18th-ranked German joined ATP player Andy Murrey as part of the Rado family.

Rado differs from the traditional Swiss watch makers in that it leans towards innovative uses of high-tech materials in distinct design. – Rado's official Facebook page

To make the event exciting, Goerges played tennis in the dark under UV light with neon equipment, joined CEO Matthias Breschan in presenting the new collection, met special guests and signed autographs.

Luxembourg: Vinci earns two bagels in three sets, Jankovic escapes Peng challenge

While the action is still heating up in Moscow, where top seeds are enjoying their first-round byes, the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open is in full swing.

Top seed and 2010 Luxembourg champion Roberta Vinci came through with a bizarre victory over Olga Govortsova, bageling the Belarusian in the first and third sets, but getting crushed in between. In the two sets Vinci won, Govortsova won six and nine points on her serve, while in the second set of the match Govortsova converted all three of her break opportunities and we got the score 6-0 2-6 6-0. Vinci is world No.15 in singles, while in doubles she's a fresh No.1, as of this week.

Second seed Julia Goerges stormed past Silvia Soler-Espinosa 6-2 6-1, hitting nine aces and losing just nine points in eight service games. It's a perfect revenge for Goerges, who has recently suffered an agonizing 1-6 7-6(5) 6-2 loss to the Spaniard in Seoul, after being a set and a break up. Read more »

Azarenka wins Linz for back-to-back titles without dropping a set

Victoria Azarenka decided to actively prepare for the WTA Championships in Istanbul and straight from storming to the Beijing title she flew to Linz where in similar fashion she earned another title, her sixth this season. The world No.1 is now on a roll of 13 consecutive straight set match wins, if we disregard the walkover she gave to Angelique Kerber in Tokyo due to dizziness.

Julia Goerges, Azarenka's opponent in the final, was the first player to take more than two games in a set in Linz against Azarenka, who scored a 6-0 6-2 victory over Arantxa Rus in the first round, 6-1 6-1 over Simona Halep in the second round, 6-2 6-2 over Petra Martic in the quarterfinals and 6-2 6-1 over Irina-Camelia Begu in the semis. The fifth-seeded Goerges won three games in the first set, in which Azarenka was strong on her serve and faced no break points, and four games in the second set, all the four of which came in succession when Goerges was 5-0 down. Therefore, final score was 6-3 6-4.

It was Azarenka's first appearance at the Generali Ladies Linz. The title has earned her $37,000 and 280 ranking points. (photo: Ralf Reinecke)
