Dokic better than Pennetta at Unicef Open

Jelena Dokic made Flavia Pennetta the sole seeded player to lose on Wednesday at the Unicef Open. The 59th-ranked Australian defeated the fourth-seeded Pennetta 6-3 6-4 for the second straight-set victory at the tournament (in the first round she beat Alla Kudryavtseva 6-0 6-4).

The former world No.4 Dokic is not a stranger to grass. She played the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2000 and she won on the grass of Birmingham in 2002. In the quarterfinals of the Unicef Open Dokic will meet Johanna Larsson, who is ranked 71st.

It is Dokic’s third quarterfinal of the season, including her title run in Kuala Lumpur, and her third highest-ranked win this year (in Paris she defeated world No.20 Nadia Petrova and No.5 Francesca Schiavone in the first round of Kuala Lumpur). (photo: © Neal Trousdale)

Future Adidas and Nike dresses

Things in tennis are happening fast, the French Open finished just yesterday and the grass is already under players' feet, so let's have a quick look at some Wimbledon whites that the biggest brands of Adidas and Nike prepared for their players. Actually, in the case of Adidas we also have a peek at the US Open dresses.

Adidas Adizero line, worn by Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova, will present an Adizero Feather dress with pleats on front of skirt, open back and discreet, light artwork on front of the top part.

After the cut you can see a sneak picture of Ivanovic wearing the dress, and you can also see the dress in pink and blue, most probably dedicated to the US Open. Read more »

Pennetta and Peer leave on Roland Garros Day 1

Seed No.18 Flavia Pennetta was the highest seed to fall on the first day of the 2011 French Open. The Italian's errors piled up and despite winning the second set and saving four match points, she lost to American Varvara Lepchenko and her mummified knees 6-3 2-6 6-3. Lepchenko's next opponent will be fellow American, Bethanie Mattek Sands, who toughed it out against Arantxa Parra Santonja (as for Bethanie's outfit, well, it's disappointingly conservative this time). Adidas presents Roland Garros 2011 outfits in Adizene

Adidas made a nice presentation of their designs for Roland Garros 2011 in the form of an e-magazine called Adizene. There our beautiful player photos accompanied by a short interview embedded on the page.

You are certainly already familiar with these outfits, we've been seeing them around for months already. Ivanovic will wear her beautiful Adidas Adizero, only the pink and orange version with green details this time. I always love when clothing brands match the unmatchable colors. I especially love when for the red clay they use colors that resemble the red color of clay, and you think it would bland too much, but what you actually get is an intriguing and compatible combination. Current favorite songs of WTA players

The WTA Tour interviewed a lot of players about their favorite songs at the moment and they got very colorful answers. From Shahar Peer who doesn't listen to music, Kim Clijsters who is "getting older" and listens to the same CDs over and over again, doubles partners Flavia Pennetta and Gisela Dulko who not surprisingly love the same song, JJ who has no idea, but later admits she's haunted by Katy Perry's "Fireworks", and the others who listen from U2, Mark Ronson and Celine Dion to the latest Lady Gaga and Rihanna hits.
