Adidas by Stella McCartney gives details about Caroline Wozniacki's French Open kit

As early as in November 2012 we got a peek into the Adidas by Stella McCartney apparel for the first half of 2013 and the latest press release by the brand confirms that their biggest star Caroline Wozniacki will wear the blue version of the Barricade summer dress, but also provides detailed information about the brand new Barricade shoes that "fuse advanced technical superiority with standout style".

The dress, highlighted by the adjustable yellow tank straps, available for $120, will be accompanied by lemon Barricade shoes specially designed to endure extreme lateral movements and demanding rallies. The shoe will be available as of June 1 for $125, while its official launch is scheduled for Wimbledon, when it will be worn by all the other Stella representatives, including Maria Kirilenko and Laura Robson.

In non-fashion Caroline Wozniacki news, the Dane today lost her fourth straight first match of a tournament, falling to Zheng Jie in the second round of the Brussels Open after a first-round bye. After recording a rain-delayed victory over American qualifier Mallory Burdette 6-2 4-6 6-3, Zheng proceeded with the winning ways, upsetting the top-seeded 2011 Brussels champion Wozniacki 6-2 6-4 by hitting twice as many winners than her opponent, while in the department of the unforced errors they were shoulder-to-shoulder.

Jovanovski turns the match over to upset Wozniacki in Rome, Radwanska falls to Halep

On the opening of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia Laura Robson made the story of the day by taking out Venus Williams and setting up a meeting with Serena Williams in the second round, while another famous up-and-comer took the spotlight on Day 2 in the first round - Bojana Jovanovski upset tenth seed Caroline Wozniacki 2-6 6-4 7-6(5) for her second career Top 10 victory and will next face fellow Serb Jelena Jankovic, who was her first Top 10 victim back in 2010.

Since reaching the second week of the 2013 Australian Open, her best Grand Slam result, the 48th-ranked Jovanovski lost eight straight matches, struggled with injuries and even dramatic personal life (her ex-boyfriend jumped off a bridge in Belgrade), but today against Wozniacki she recovered from losing the first set, being a break down in the second at 3-4, 0-4 in the third set, then 4-5 in the third when Wozniacki was serving for the match and then again recovered from 2-5 in the tiebreak to battle to the win in two hours and 57 minutes.

The highest seed to fall on Tuesday was No.4 Agnieszka Radwanska. The Pole lost handily to world No.64 Simona Halep 6-7(2) 6-1 6-2 in the second round, while Svetlana Kuznetsova was the Romanian's victim in the first round 6-1 6-1. Agnieszka's lower-ranked sister Urszula advanced to the second round with an upset of seed No.15 Ana Ivanovic, 6-3 2-6 6-2. (source: WTA Tour, photo: © Neal Trousdale)

Charleston: Jankovic now through easily, Wozniacki gets a walkover to quarterfinals

On a rainy day in Charleston, that allowed the completion of only half of the third-round matches, ninth seed Jelena Jankovic advanced to the quarterfinals with a comfortable 6-0 6-4 victory over Jessica Pegula, which came after two tight matches (almost three hours against Melanie Oudin in the first round and two match points saved in the second round against Caroline Garcia). The former world No.1 Jankovic is enjoying a revival of form these weeks, having now won 12 of her last 14 matches, which includes the title in Bogota and Miami semifinals.

In the Charleston quarterfinals Jankovic will play Eugenie Bouchard, who didn’t have to complete her third-round match, as third seed Samantha Stosur retired with a calf injury while trailing 1-6 0-2.

Another quarterfinal that was set on Thursday was also half determined without play, as Andrea Petkovic gave a walkover due to a calf injury to second seed Caroline Wozniacki, who will face Stefanie Voegele, the player who upset tenth seed Julia Goerges, 3-6 6-1 6-3.

The schedule on Friday will be very packed, as the remaining third-round matches and all the quarterfinals are set to take place. (photo: © Neal Trousdale)

Sharapova wins Indian Wells for first title of 2013

First of all, I'm sorry for not having covered the semifinals, but I have a good excuse, I was a maid of honor at a friend's wedding yesterday :) . Recovering from yesterday's wild celebrations, I was able to relax with the final action in Indian Wells, featuring Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki. The Dane's last Premier Mandatory final was at the same tournament two years ago and then she went all the way to the title, even beating Sharapova in the semis, but things have since changed considerably and the Russian is way stronger now, overpowering Wozniacki 6-2 6-2 in the title match.

Sharapova recorded 33 winners to Wozniacki's two and that hard-hitting and accuracy brought her a break to love at the very beginning of the match and a straightforward victory, without dropping her own serve, in one hour and 21 minutes. Naturally, Sharapova's count of unforced errors was greater than Wozniacki's, 25 to 19, but her dominance in winner's was insurmountable.

After a first-round bye, Sharapova beat Francesca Schiavone, Carla Suarez Navarro, Lara Arruabarrena, Sara Errani, Maria Kirilenko and finally Wozniacki, all in straight sets, and lifted her 28th career champion's trophy and first this season. She will ascend to No.2 in the rankings, pushing Victoria Azarenka to the third position. (photo: © Neal Trousdale)

Defending champion Radwanska falls in Dubai quarterfinals

Just as we said that the Dubai draw opened up for titleholder Agnieszka Radwanska with withdrawals of Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams, the Pole went out to Petra Kvitova 6-2 6-4 in the quarterfinals, who has now recorded her first Top 5 win since her Wimbledon-winning 2011 season. Despite producing 38 unforced errors to 37 winners, Kvitova was better than Radwanska, whose numbers were modest six winners to five unforced errors. In the semifinals, the sixth-seeded Kvitova will play eighth seed Caroline Wozniacki, who battled past Marion Bartoli 4-6 6-1 6-4. The semifinal will be a clash of Top 2 players from the WTA rankings at the end of 2011.

The other Dubai semifinal will feature members of the top-ranked doubles pairing, Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci. The fifth-seeded Errani, who is 4-2 all-time against Vinci in singles, recovered from suffering a second-set bagel to defeat Nadia Petrova 6-4 0-6 6-3, while Vinci is enjoying one of the best weeks of her career, having recorded two straight Top 10 victories: against world No.6 Angelique Kerber on Wednesday and today against world No.9 Samantha Stosur 6-2 6-4.
