Carlos Rodriguez, famous for coaching the recently retired Justine Henin throughout her impressive career, is probably going to coach Russian world number six Anna Chakvetadze.

It’s hard for me to picture Carlos coaching anyone but Justine, but it's great he’s ready to spread his knowledge to other talented players. The only thing is that Carlos doesn’t agree to travel, which mean that Anna will have to set up shop in Belgium (she currently lives in Moscow) to be able to train with him full-time. World No.6 Anna Chakvetadze became the highest seeded player to lose at Roland Garros 2008.

The sixth seed fell to Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-4 7-6 in the second round, after dropping serve four times and losing the tie-break 7-2. Last year, Chakvetadze reached quarterfinals at the French Open.

Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of tennis star Anna Chakvetadze and her family.

World No.6 Chakvetadze, holder of seven Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles titles, attracted the robbers with her tennis successes which of course go together with high earnings. The 21-year-old Russian was tied up along with her parents on December 18 by six armed robbers who broke into their Moscow house and stole roughly $202,000 in money and valuables.

The suspects have been implicated in more than 50 other robberies. They are all between the ages of 25 and 40 and live in Moscow or the Moscow region. Some of the items seized during their arrest belonged to Chakvetadze, including a mobile phone and several pieces of jewelry. Read more »

Fifth seed Anna Chakvetadze lost 7-6(7) 6-4 in the second round of the $2.5 million Qatar Total Open to China's world No.29 Na Li.

This is Chakvetadze's second consecutive early exit from a tournament since winning the Open Gaz the France earlier this month. Chakvetadze was upset in the second round of the last week’s Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp when she lost to Sweden’s Sofia Arvidsson. Read more »

Second seed Anna Chakvetadze was stunned in the second round of the Proximus Diamond Games by Sweden’s Sofia Arvidsson, ranked 66th in the world. Final score was 6-3 7-5.

World No.6 Chakvetadze, who won the Open Gaz de France last week, suffered a surprise loss in the first match she played since (the Russian had a bye in the first round of the tournament in Antwerp).
