Ana Ivanovic breaks up with Adam Scott?

Ana Ivanovic
The word is out that Ana Ivanovic ended a year and a half long relationship with Australian golfer Adam Scott. The break up is still not fully confirmed, but the couple hasn’t been seen together in a while and the Daily Mail is reporting:

Ana Ivanovic has dropped her boyfriend, Australian golf star Adam Scott, and fallen in love with tennis again.

Let's remind ourselves of the good old times: Adam supporting Ana at Wimbledon, then Ana accompanying Adam at the Scottish Open, the couple holding hands in New York, and spending leisure time in Mallorca.

Kim Clijsters demolishes Ana Ivanovic in 59 minutes to advance to US Open quarters

Ana Ivanovic at the 2010 US OpenIn the Kim Clijsters vs. Ana Ivanovic fourth round US Open encounter all eyes were on Ivanovic as she was supposed to show that her confidence and form really are back. However, the Serb fell to the Belgian defending champion 6-2 6-1 in just 59 minutes.

After taking the first set, Clijsters raced to a 4-0 lead and soon wrapped up the match in which Ivanovic held serve only once. The former world No.1 Ivanovic admitted that the nerves crept in again and all we can hope for is that it was just a temporary failure in her recent improving form.

Venus Williams was challenged by Shahar Peer in the first set of their fourth round match, but the American had an easier time in the second set to win 7-6(3) 6-3. The third-seeded Williams will next face French Open champion Francesca Schiavone, who defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-3 6-0 to reach her first US Open quarterfinal since 2003. US Open 2010 women's tennis fashion

Women's tennis fashion is attracting a lot of attention, especially at Grand Slams when clothing sponsors and players try to showcase the best they have. So let's see what they've come up for the 2010 US Open.

I'll start with adidas, my overall favorite, as they always make outfits that have a glamorous touch but can also be easily worn at everyday practice.

Caroline Wozniacki is looking great in Stella McCartney Tennis Performance Dress, contrasting nicely with Tennis Performance Bra Top. Elena Dementieva and Yonex once again failed to impress with design and fellow blogger C Note, who saw the dress live at the US Open, said that it even looks two sizes too big on Dementieva.

As usual for a Grand Slam, Maria Sharapova has two versions of a Nike dress – one for day matches and a darker piece for night. When we reviewed the dresses from the photos prior to the Open they looked somewhat questionable, but when seen on Sharapova they are a perfect match. You can see the dresses closer here and here.

Ivanovic storms past Zheng, Azarenka collapses at US Open

Ana Ivanovic at US Open 2010Victoria Azarenka at US Open 2010

Ana Ivanovic needed just 56 minutes to beat seed No.21 Zheng Jie and advance to the third round of the US Open.

The world No.40 Ivanovic is building on the momentum started in Cincinnati recently, which was abruptly interrupted by a left foot injury. Luckily, Ivanovic is not showing signs of it and she displayed impressive form to avenge the 2008 Wimbledon defeat to Zheng, who then became the third-lowest ranked player to beat a reigning world No.1.

Tenth seed Victoria Azarenka could not bear the hot weather in New York and 34 minutes into her second round match against Gisela Dulko, while trailing 5-1, Azarenka collapsed and had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair and was later transported to the hospital. Also, it didn’t help that Azarenka was wearing an all-black dress in the sun (the dress  Serena would have worn hadn’t she withdrawn).

Dulko, who is now through to the third round, commented on the weather conditions: "It's really hot, really humid. You sweat so much, sometimes it's impossible to hold the racquet."

Update: It has been revealed that heat was not the main reason for the accident, but Azarenka's fall in the gym that happened before the match.

Here's Azarenka's statement:

I was warming up in the gym prior to my match against Gisela Dulko when I fell while running a sprint. I fell forward and hit my arm and head. I was checked by the medical team before I went on court and they were courtside for monitoring. I felt worse as the match went on, having a headache and feeling dizzy. I also started having trouble seeing and felt weak before I fell.

Henin out for the rest of the season, Ivanovic’s recovery progresses well

Justine HeninAna Ivanovic
Justine Henin has announced that her 2010 tennis season is over, although she expects to resume practicing in October. The Belgian still needs time to recover from the elbow injury she sustained in the fourth round of Wimbledon in July. The former world No.1 is scheduled to play the Hopman Cup which begins on January 1st.

Luckily, the ankle strain Ana Ivanovic so unfortunately sustained in the Cincinnati semifinals is healing well. Here’s what she wrote in her new blog entry:

I had almost non-stop icing for two days, to prevent swelling. My ankle has reacted quite well to the treatment and I still hope to play in New Haven next week. It’s going to be touch and go, but fingers crossed.

Also, Ivanovic gave praise to Kim Clijsters, her opponent in the semifinal, who visitied Ana at the doctor’s to see how she was.

Not only was she very sympathetic after the match but the next day, as she was preparing for the final and I was seeing the doctor again, she came to me again to show her support. It’s rare in tennis to see this kind of generosity and it meant a lot.
