As our readers Yellybean and Stiven suggested, we are doing a review of non-Stella McCartney Adidas by presenting Adidas' two lines - Adilibria and Barricade - and what better than on the examples of Ana Ivanovic and ex-Stella McCartney face Maria Kirilenko.

Along with Serena Williams' Nike designs, Ana Ivanovic had the most beautiful outfits in 2010. As always with Adidas, it was the mixture of high-quality, simplicity, innovativeness, classic look and sporty look.

I absolutely love how Ana Ivanovic and Adidas Adilibria match, but I have to say that the line looked perfect on Flavia Pennetta and Sorana Cirstea as well. Read more »

Australian Open 2011: adidas outfits for Henin, Pennetta and Ivanovic

Thanks to our regular reader Maja J, we are learning about these sneak previews of adidas' WTA stars wearing their clothing for the 2011 Australian Open. We've already talked about the beautiful purple adilibria outfit Ana Ivanovic will be wearing Down Under, but now we're having the photo of the outfit on Ana herself (previously I thought it was a dress, but now I hear it's a skirt and a top), as well as the pictures of Justine Henin and Flavia Pennetta in the designs adidas prepared for them.

Justine Henin's adidas outfit for Australian Open 2011

Justine Henin will be in more colors than usual with her new SS11 Barricade two-piece ensemble, but I have to say I prefer the less is more approach when it comes to Henin and colors. The outfit, consisting of a polo shirt and skort, will be available in two color combinations of "fresh pink", "intense green" and white.

Antonio van Grichen, new coach of Ana Ivanovic

Ana Ivanovic

There were many speculations as to who would be Ana Ivanovic’s new coach, and the latest news is that the Serbian world No. 17 is on a trial with Antonio van Grichen, former coach of Victoria Azarenka and briefly Vera Zvonareva.

Portuguese van Grichen is currently training with Ivanovic and they will be working together through the Australian part of the season. Marija Lojanica will continue to be Ivanovic’s fitness trainer (their cooperation started after Wimbledon 2010). (source: Ana Ivanovic's official website, photo: © Neal Trousdale)

New adidas adilibria line for 2011

Purple and green 2011 adidas Adilibria dress

We always use this period without tournaments to review tennis outfits from the season behind us, as well as to give you a glimpse of what top brands are planning for WTA players for the year to come. Thanks to Emily from WTA Tour Insight, I learned about the new adidas adilibria line whose most famous representatives are Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova.

We have photos of two outfits from the line: the dress and the tank and skort. You may already know that I am a great fan of purple, and green is also towards the top of the list of my favorite colors, and since the colors are accompanied by nice details and good designs I absolutely love the 2011 adidas adilibria line. I can safely say that currently adilibria is the best women’s tennis fashion has to offer. Their yellow and red dresses, as well as the white and pink dresses (to name just a few), from the 2010 season were also beautiful. What do you think?

The tank and skort pictured above have the white and green version as well.

Additional info: Emily also shared some sketches of what Nike players may wear in 2011.

Ana Ivanovic to play mixed doubles with Nenad Zimonjic at Australian Open

Ana IvanovicThanks to our reader Soko we’re learning about this very surprising piece of news – Ana Ivanovic will team up with established Serbian mixed doubles player Nenad Zimonjic for the 2011 Australian Open and they are even planning to follow it up with a joined appearance at the 2012 London Olympics.

Ivanovic can learn more than a trick or two from Zimonjic – the father of twins has won 38 doubles titles including three Grand Slams and four mixed doubles titles, all four at Grand Slams.

Ivanovic and Zimonjic are planning to play only the Australian Open together, while at other Grand Slams Zimonjic will get back to playing with Slovenia’s Katarina Srebotnik.

It will be Ivanovic’s and Zimonjic’s first time to join forces and if they happen to win the 2012 London Olympics they will enter history books as the winners of the first mixed doubles event at the Summer Olympics.

It would be great if Ivanovic would repeat the same surprising success her countrywoman Jelena Jankovic had with Jamie Murrey at Wimbledon in 2007. (source: Vesti Online, photo: sr_cranks)

Ana Ivanovic wins Bali and marks her 2010 season with success

Ana IvanovicAna Ivanovic had ups and downs during the 2010 season, but her clawing back to good form has reached its peak when she won the Generali Ladies Linz title three weeks ago and backed it up this weekend by winning the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali.

To win the last tournament of the WTA calendar unseeded Ivanovic defeated third seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarters, Kimiko Date Krumm in the semis, and Alisa Kleybanova 6-2 7-6(5) in the final.

We can now safely say this season can be remembered as a good one when it comes to Ivanovic, even though in July she had her lowest ranking in five years at No.65. The end of the year was good for her, as she won 13 of her last 15 matches and the Bali title will bring her back into the Top 20, for the first time in a little bit over a year.

As for Kleybanova, she was looking for her third title of the year, which would at the same time have been her third career title and her third one in Asia. But despite the defeat in the final, the 21-year-old Russian’s 2010 was her career-best year. (photo: © Neal Trousdale)

Ana Ivanovic celebrates birthday with semifinal Bali win

Ana IvanovicFormer world No.1 Ana Ivanovic may have downgraded from playing Doha two years ago to playing the lower-rate Bali, but she’s on a good way to get back to the Top 20, being one win away from achieving that.

On the day of her 23th birthday, Ivanovic defeated Kimiko Date Krumm, the only player in the Bali field whom she wasn’t familiar with, and reached the final of the last tournament this season.

The 40-year-old Date Krumm won the first three games of the match and had double set point at 5-3, but Ivanovic then went on a six-game streak to win the first set and lead 2-0 in the second. Still, even though Ivanovic was serving for the match at 5-3 in the second set, Date Krumm managed to stay in there, forced a tiebreak and won it despite trailing at first. The third set was Ivanovic’s, as she broke her opponent in the first and seventh games to move into the final with a 7-5 6-7(5) 6-2 victory.

The other finalist is Alisa Kleybanova, who defeated Daniela Hantuchova 6-3 6-1 in the semis. Kleybanova was the one who took out defending champion Aravane Rezai in the previous round. (photo: © Neal Trousdale)
