As we’re approaching the start of a new year, WTA players are getting emotional on social media and after Madison Keys’ yesterday’s thankfulness to Santa who sent her a boyfriend in 2017, Olympic champion Monica Puig is sharing with the world her gratefulness for having Derek Dietrich in her life, making me happy to add them to my WTA Players and their Love Partners series.

Derek is a 28-year-old American professional baseball second baseman for the Miami Marlins, originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I’m not sure when Monica and Derek started dating, but talks about their relationship started swirling around in June, when Monica was spotted watching Derek from the stands.
Monica’s previous boyfriend was race car driver Gustavo Menezes. They even got engaged at the end of 2016, but broke up in January 2017.
I think Monica is on the right path now with her new beau. I hope she improves more next year.
