Set to deliver more power than its previous generation, Wilson has launched the 2017 Ultra family of racquets, offering six models to complement a variety of playing styles and body types. WTA’s Madison Keys is debuting the Ultra Tour model of the midnight navy and bright blue racquet this week at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford.

The racquet is designed to provide effortless power for all shots regardless of the court position. Novel technologies expand the hottest part of the racquet’s sweet spot by 15%, giving more power and force where and when it is needed, while enhancing feel.

Moreover, Power Rib™ and Crush Zone™ are two new technologies set to give greater power.

  • Power Rib is an enhanced racquet throat geometry at a crucial bending and twisting area of the frame. This provides greater stability and stiffness that result in more power and increased directional accuracy.
  • Crush Zone is an innovative grommet system that compresses at impact and increases ball dwell time on the strings. The benefit of this technology is better feel and more potential energy that drives explosive power.

When it comes to the looks, the racquet’s clean lines and blue accents are enhanced by matte finishes and a wonderful velvety paint that feels great when you touch it and provides a smooth appearance.

The six models available in the 2017 Ultra line are: the Ultra 100 Countervail® (CV), Ultra 100L, Ultra 100UL, Ultra 105S CV, Ultra 110 and Ultra Tour. The different models are there to reflect the player age, size, and ability, and varying head sizes, weights, technologies and string patters allow athletes to target what they specifically need.

The Ultra 100L and Ultra 100UL are two maneuverable, lightweight options ideal for juniors and smaller adults. The Ultra 100 CV and Ultra 105S CV models feature Wilson’s Countervail frame technology, which minimizes vibration and thus reduces fatigue. All 2017 Ultra models are compatible with the brand’s X2 Ergo handle technology, which is a customizable handle shape for the top hand of two-handed backhands to create optimal feel for the modern two-hander.

The Ultra 100L, Ultra 100UL, Ultra 100 CV and the Ultra Tour are available for pre-sale at WilsonTennis Warehouse USA and Tennis Warehouse Europe, while they will be available for purchase worldwide on August 15. The Ultra 105S CV and Ultra 110 will be available for sale globally on October 2, 2017.
