Ninth seed Agnieszka Radwanska faced two mild scares in the first set of her opener against Jelena Jankovic, but in the end finished the match with a commanding display, joining Angelique Kerber and Garbine Muguruza in the second round of Wimbledon 2017.

Out on Court No.2, Jankovic served for the first set twice, at 5-4 and 6-5, but both times she missed the chance and Radwanska got the upper hand in the tiebreak, following it with a powerful start in the second set, which developed into an absolute dominance and a bagel. Moreover, Jankovic seemed to be struggling with back pain, as she was constantly putting her hands to her lower back and massaging it, drawing attention to her perfect Wimbledon solid white nails that matched her sparkly Fila Spotlight Dress.

World No.1 and last year’s runner-up Angelique Kerber opened her Wimbledon 2017 campaign with a 3-0 lead against qualifier Irina Falconi on Centre Court, but the match developed into a close fight as the world No.247 American’s impressive display got support from Kerber’s 15 unforced errors. Still, the favorite avoided an early upset and reached the second round with a 6-4 6-4 victory.

Meanwhile, seed No.14th and 2015 finalist Garbine Muguruza needed just over an hour to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-2 6-4 in the first round.
