Svetlana Kuznetsova has continued her amazing run at the 2016 WTA Finals in Singapore on Wednesday, winning her second straight match against Czech Republic’s Karolina Pliskova, punching her ticket for the tournament’s semifinal stage.

Kuznetsova’s run in Singapore is impressive for various reasons. Not only did the Russian qualify for the event with a last-minute title run in Moscow that forced her to rush to Singapore without any rest or preparation, the two-time slam winner has clinched both wins playing two marathon matches, seemingly running on an endless supply of energy this week.

While Kuznetsova is shaping up to become the main story of this year’s WTA Finals, a player that made headlines at the 2015 event is majorly struggling. After winning all her round robin matches in 2015, Spain’s Garbine Muguruza is having a much worse time this year, as the French Open champ has lost her second match, falling to Agnieszka Radwanska in straight sets.

Muguruza’s loss is Radwanska’s gain, as the reigning champ is keeping her WTA Finals campaign alive, much to the delight of the many Polish fans in Singapore.

The tournament’s round robin stage is bound to heat up massively tomorrow with the final matches in the Red Group. If Simona Halep manages to beat Dominika Cibulkova in straight sets, the pressure will be on world #1 Angelique Kerber, since the German would be forced to take at least one set off Madison Keys in order to make the semis.
