After starting the year by winning her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, Angelique Kerber is set to finish 2016 on a high note, as the German is officially bound to end the WTA season at the No.1 ranking.

Displaying pure quality in the thrilling Australian Open final against Serena Williams, Kerber showed the strength of her tennis and character and later on continued to adorn her season with more extraordinary achievements, including the Wimbledon final, silver medal at the Olympics, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix title in Stuttgart and most notably the victory at the US Open, following which Serena’s WTA No.1 crown fell off after 186 consecutive weeks.

The 28-year-old Kerber has now become only the 12th player to clinch the year-end No.1 position since the computer rankings were introduced in November 1975. Also, she’s only the second German to achieve the feat, joining legendary Steffi Graf, who finished as many as eight WTA seasons ranked No.1.

The only thing left for us to see now is whether Kerber will manage to put icing on the cake by winning the WTA Finals in Singapore, trying to improve her unsatisfactory performance at the prestigious tournament (Kerber has won just two of nine matches in three previous appearances). The tennis ace is already in the city-state and today she took some time to launch the Porsche 718 Cayman, posing exclusively for my photographer Jimmie48.

  1. Huge congrats, she is SO worth it! I am not a big fan of the Alaia dress she wore for the Singapore ceremony but compared to the others, she looked great!!

  2. Angie has worked very hard the past year and a half to attain these achievements. The success will not go to her head and I believe she will build on it and win more Grand Slams next year.
