Monday at the 2016 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix was all about glamour as the WTA’s most popular Premier tournament started with its traditional players' night. The WTA ladies came out in style, showing off some stunning hair, makeup and dresses that were prepared in the tournament’s beauty lounge beforehand.
Of course, it wasn’t all about nice dresses and pretty makeup, as the day also had some tennis in store. Anna-Lena Friedsam had the honor of winning the first main-draw match of the tournament, getting past Britain’s Johanna Konta in straight sets.
In the evening, it was Sabine Lisicki’s turn to back that performance up with another crowd-pleaser for the German fans. Unfortunately, Lisicki suffered yet another first-round loss in Stuttgart, falling in straight sets to Hungary’s Timea Babos.
First-round play in Stuttgart will continue on Tuesday. Keep checking back to Women’s Tennis Blog for more from the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix all week long!
