One of Women’s Tennis Blog’s most famous sections is Little Tennis Stars and today it’s a perfect occasion to share some nice childhood photos of Roberta Vinci, the 33-year-old Italian who has this week reached her career-high singles ranking of No.9.
Vinci began playing tennis at the age of six and in this photo from 1989 you can see where her love for the sport was born.
This photo is so cute! It’s Roberta with her father, Angelo, who is an accountant. Roberta shared it just a few days ago on Instagram.
Here we can see the photos of Roberta’s first accomplishments, while now her biography boasts a total of 35 WTA titles (10 in singles and 25 in doubles). Alongside Sara Errani, Roberta won the 2012 French Open, the 2012 US Open, the 2013 Australian Open and 2014 Australian Open, and 2014 Wimbledon, thus completing a Career Grand Slam in doubles.
Last but not least, here’s a nice photo with Flavia Pennetta, against whom Vinci played the greatest singles match of her career, the 2015 US Open final, the first ever all-Italian Grand Slam final. Remember, ahead of the historic battle I also showed you a nice old photo of Flavia and Roberta, when they won the girls’ doubles French Open title in 1999.
If you enjoyed this throwback, do visit our Little Tennis Stars page, as you will find dozens of super cute baby photos of other WTA stars.
