Photos from the Australian Open: Muguruza & Ivanovic drop out

Saturday at the 2016 Australian Open saw the exit of two big-name players that were added to the ever-growing list of falling seeds in Melbourne this year.

In the morning, Garbine Muguruza lost to Barbora Strycova, ending what has been a very disappointing, injury-impaired, Aussie summer for the Spaniard.

Muguruza was later joined by Ana Ivanovic, who lost to Madison Keys in a dramatic three-set match that was overshadowed by Ivanovic’s coach Nigel Sears’ collapsing in the stands, forcing a 40-minute interruption of play.

  1. The Real Deal

It pained me to see Madison Keys get injured today. She definitely would have won the match had she not been. I cried and prayed for her. She came so far and lost it all in a matter of minutes. Although her opponent is a joy to watch, I know she would not have won today if Madison remained healthy. “Cheer up, Maddy! Your time for a major win is just around the bend. Get well soon!”
