On Friday at the Sofitel Hotel in Melbourne, both women's and men's players gathered to commemorate the beginning of the Open season and have some fun before the 2016 Australian Open kicks off, while IMG hosted a glamorous party on Sunday.
Attendees at the Australian Open player party were treated to dinner and drinks with an impressive view of Melbourne, and as a special touch, the party took on an Alice in Wonderland theme. Attire for this event seemed laid back and casual, but that didn't stop players from making fashion statements.
Bethanie Mattek Sands, sometimes referred to as the Lady Gaga of tennis for her outfit choices, wore a drapey beige blouse over an exposed strappy black sports bra. The American paired the look with stylish black leggings and beige tennis shoes.
Serena Williams also opted for a more sporty look and debuted the crop top style, going for all black with an athletic jacket and pants combo.
Ukrainian player Elina Svitolina looked chic in a black and white patterned crop top and high-waisted nude trousers. Certain details really pulled the look together, such as the large brass buttons lining the oversized pockets of the trousers, and her half ponytail hairstyle added a sleek touch.
On Sunday, the IMG players party was held at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne. From the looks of it, this bash was a bit more high fashion than the first, and women's players chose bolder outfits for the occasion.
Both Eugenie Bouchard and Maria Sharapova chose geometric dresses for the event, with Bouchard opting for a tight black number with a red, beige, and aqua blue criss-crossing pattern, while Sharapova, always the fashionista, wore an eye-catching coral dress with purple and light pink color blocking.
In another trend of the afternoon, Garbine Muguruza and Victoria Azarenka went for floral patterns. Garbi elected a beautiful royal blue sleeveless top and watercolor floral trousers.
On the other hand, Vika chose a dress with less vibrant pastel colors, but the effect was just as memorable. Periwinkle vertical stripes covered most of the dress, but two vertical bands of green and peach flowers gave the outfit extra flair, especially when matched with peach pumps.
