Belgium’s Yanina Wickmayer & Poland’s Magda Linette will meet in Sunday’s Japan Women’s Open Tennis final in Tokyo, following their successful semifinals in the Japanese capital today.

Wickmayer clinched her tenth WTA final with a two-set win over Ajla Tomljanovic. The soon-to-be Australian Croat fought her way into the final, getting past Timea Babos, Kimiko Date-Krumm & Madison Brengle before having to make way for Wickmayer to make the final round.

While Wickmayer won her match in straight sets, Linette had to go the long way against Christina McHale, recovering from a dropped first set against the American to make her first ever WTA final in the Japanese capital.

While the Japan Women’s Open Tennis semifinals were completing on Court 1, the rest of the Ariake Tennis Forest was already in Premier mode, as qualifications for next week’s Pan Pacific Open kicked off on Saturday, since Tokyo’s hosting back-to-back WTA tournaments in the same venue this year.
