When Petra Kvitova wrapped up the first set against Jelena Jankovic in just 29 minutes and grabbed an early break in the second set, it seemed that the home crowd would not wait much for the following encounter on Centre Court featuring Andy Murray to start, but the former world number one from Serbia miraculously managed to rally from a set and 4-2 down to eliminate the defending champion on the first match point. Final score of this Wimbledon third-round match: 3-6 7-5 6-4.

Watch how JJ celebrated the spectacular victory, her first Top 10 win this season and only her second Top 5 win on grass out of the total of 21:

The second-ranked Kvitova suffered her earliest exit from Wimbledon since 2009.

  1. I was hoping Lisicki and Kvitova will go far in this year’s Wimbledon. It was quite a shock. Also for Tsvetana who regularly plays well and very dangerous on grass. I wish Petra success next year.

  2. 🙂 I was able to watch the entire match, except for a brief stint when my internet went a bit wonky. I have come to the conclusion that when JJ plays well. She can beat anyone. I was super excited that JJ won. Her match was of course entertaining. I was worried for a bit in the second set, and the third, but JJ she is a fighter. Go JJ, beat Aggy.

  3. Pity JJ lost to Aga, she had no more power left in her tank. P!inky, you know I’m also the biggest fan of JJ and I’m glad to see that she can still make big surprises.
