Jelena Jankovic’s Fila cheerleader dress (at least that’s what I called it) was voted as the best outfit of the 2014 French Open on the WTA website. Will Fila manage to repeat the feat this year with its Fila Spirit collection?

I’m still not sure which of the styles will be JJ’s fashion weapon of choice at the French Open, and I see no dresses among the new clothes, at least not yet, but pink surprise, royal spirit and lemon twist hues (I always thought who comes up with these color names, I want that job! :)) will surely shine brightly on the red clay, just as the new Stella’s Barricades, and as a nice contrast to Adidas’ innovative blacks. Fila distinguishes this collection for being made with “super-soft jersey and tons of pockets”.

When it comes to tops, there are two silhouettes: the Fila Spring Spirit Double Layer Tank, featuring a contrast color inside bra with a center front pocket and adjustable spaghetti straps, and the Fila Spring Spirit Triangle Tank, including an inside bra and contrast color binding at the armhole and neck.

The tanks can be paired with a variety of bottoms: a skort, short, ¾ capri or lounge capri. Fila’s WTA players will most likely sport the Fila Spring Spirit Drawcord Skirt, available in blue, grey and white and featuring a tie and ruching on the left side as design details.

Cool classic bras round out the collection.

What do you think of the Fila Spirit clothes? Apparently there’s nothing groundbreaking, but the apparel is definitely cute and very wearable for a variety of sports activities. All in all, thumbs up! I prefer these designs to the previous Ready, Set, Glow! collection.

  1. For me, it’s ok. It’s simple and sporty. I like the fresh colors too. It will definitely pop out in the red clay of Paris but it lacks innovation and inspiration. PS: I agree, cool names! Wish I could name an outfit too. Haha.

  2. Emman Damian, the designs are great for those who like to look modern, but don’t like to attract too much attention. BTW, have you noticed that Ana was wearing her new Y-3 shoes in Stuttgart? It’s strange that she opted to wear them with her old Adizero dress. They must be very good. Or she’s tryout to adapt to them ahead of RG.
