The legendary Chinese tennis player Li Na retired last year, but the echo of her illustrious career achievements will stay in the sport for decades to come and the Laureus Academy Exceptional Achievement Award is just the latest in the series of honors the two-time Grand Slam champion has added to her collection. What’s more, Li looked fresher than ever at the Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony in Shanghai, with her baby bump showing underneath a long black dress. Life couldn’t be better for Li right now: she has her husband Jiang Shan by her side, a healthy baby on the way and at the age of 33 a dream career behind her, plus, not to mention her beautiful wide smile, alluring long hair and glowing skin.

Being just the second athlete, after Michael Phelps in 2013, to win the Laureus Academy Exceptional Achievement Award is not the only thing that has been going on in Li’s slower-paced professional life this week. The WTA announced today that Li will be the ambassador of a new tournament which will be held in Zhuhai, a city of 1.5 million citizens located on the southern coast of China, near Hong Kong and Macau. The new singles and doubles event with attractive purse of $2,150,000 is called the WTA Elite Trophy and it will take place in the first week of November, starting from this year until 2019.

  1. Ha Ha Sabey, does sorta look like one, but I think it is just the shadow of the photography. Though he does have the slicked back hair. In her book, Li mentions that when she first met “Dennis”, all the girls thought he was “Korean” cool, but she didn’t so much!

  2. I’m so happy that Li is still garnering a lot of attention and honor after her illustrious career. She is a real trail blazer not just for China but for the whole Asia Pacific region. I salute her. She will always be a great champion and legend.
