Rain Shortens Tuesday at Hobart – Gallery

Tuesday at the 2015 Hobart International was cut short both by retirements and the weather and the Domain Tennis Centre only saw three singles matches being completed.

First off were Johanna Larsson & Kurumi Nara, as the Japanese youngster booked her ticket into the tournament’s quarterfinals.

Next up was the Anglo-American duel between Heather Watson & Sloane Stephens. Following her win over Magdalena Rybarikova yesterday, Watson backed up her excellent early-season form with another swift victory, getting past a visibly frustrated Stephens in little more than one hour.

Meanwhile, Alison Riske was on off-court duty, entertaining spectators at a Q&A session, as fans got to quiz the young American on her on-court attire, diet and grunting.

After three singles retirements yesterday, the string of unfortunate dropouts continued on Tuesday, as both scheduled doubles matches had to be cancelled because of players feeling unwell. Thankfully for the spectators, doubles partners Monica Niculescu & Vitalia Diatchenko decided to play an impromptu singles exhibition set to keep fans entertained until the evening session.

Following Kaia Kanepi who performed ticket scanning duties yesterday, Tuesday had one of the local favorites welcome the fans as Croatia-born Aussie Ajla Tomljanovic helped out the tournament staff at the front gate ahead of the evening match.

Unfortunately, just when the Australian youngster started to chat up fans at the gate and make everybody feel welcome, intense rain set in that ultimately led to the cancellation of the tournament’s evening session. This will see the match between Camila Giorgi & Kaia Kanepi moved to Wednesday as action will hopefully continue in Hobart tomorrow.

Weather permitting, the second round of the 2015 Hobart International will wrap up tomorrow, as both top seeds Casey Dellacqua & Zarina Diyas will play their second match. As usual, Women’s Tennis Blog will be there for you, covering all the action from up close!

The separates that Johanna Larson wore (from Adidas) looks great. Initially, Ana Ivanovic would use the same color but there are rumors that she will use red color instead of purple. Any thoughts?

Emman Damian, where did you hear that? I see that the Adizero dress intended for Ana is available only in this color blue, with orange details. The collection does feature some orange separates as well, but nothing red.

As far as the fashion goes for women’s tennis, I like the more conservative clean and crisp look of the sleeved shirt that Kumuri Nara and Zarina Diyas wear. I think they both wear Srixon, which is also big in Men’s golf. Kvitova wears the classic sleeved top a lot, and of course my fave Li Na’s attire was the best..in my opinion.

For me, I like a one piece dress for tennis. Girls look stunning on it especially Ana and Maria. I’m excited to see what everybody will wear in Australian Open.
