Career beginnings of Caroline Wozniacki in photos

We may miss competitive tennis in the off-season, but the laid back period allows us to dedicate more time to the off-court topics that also make up the game and one of my favorite activities is compiling the childhood albums of WTA stars. Here are some nice memories of Caroline Wozniacki.

Optimized-Caroline Wozniacki - under 12 in Corsica

The Dane, now a 24-year-old with 22 WTA titles under her belt and the achievement of the No.1 ranking in her biography, started playing tennis at the age of seven and above you can see her old photo from an under-12 tournament in Corsica. It was Caro’s fellow WTA star Alize Cornet who posted the pic on Twitter, saying “Guess who I played against for the very first time”.

Optimized-Wozniacki and Radwanska - Wimbledon 2005

Then there’s this awesome photo of Wozniacki and Agnieszka Radwanska getting ready for junior Wimbledon back in 2005.

Optimized-Wozniacki and Pavlyuchenkova - US Open 2006

A year later, at the 2006 Australian Open, Wozniacki lost the junior girls’ singles final to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Still, this photo of Venus Williams and tiny Caro remains the most epic photo of the Dane with a WTA colleague.

And here’s the braces edition of the little Caro, about 12 years ago. By the way, remember this very old interview of Caro with braces, when she was just 13? You have to watch it if you haven’t already!

If you’d like to see how Woz looked as a baby, check out this photo of her as a two-year-old racer, while this photo is I think the earliest one we have of her as a tennis player.

Visit our Little Tennis Stars series for tons of childhood photos of other women’s tennis players.

Tennis Island, of course, even better, think of Serena and Caro. Although I still believe that WTA friendships are tricky and I absolutely understand Maria Sharapova for staying away from them.
