Alright, it’s not a double bagel, but still, fourth seed and 2012 finalist Agnieszka Radwanska hung in there for just 53 minutes before bowing out to seed No.22 Ekaterina Makarova 6-3 6-0 in the fourth round of Wimbledon.

This marks the second straight Grand Slam that three of the top four women’s seeds fall before the quarterfinals! Moreover, the Pole has won just five or fewer games in five of her losses this year. Thank you Chris Skelton for these amazing stats!

The 22nd-ranked Makarova of Russia has now reached her first Wimbledon quarterfinals, where she will play Czech Lucie Safarova, seeded just one position below her.

  1. Three Czechs and one Russian in the bottom half of the quarterfinals, that’s also wow! 🙂 I’d like BZS to beat Petra, if nothing than for my friend and guest blogger David 🙂

  2. I really thought Aga had a great shot at going deep again at Wimbledon. If Petra doesn’t come through the bottom half… Wow.
