While Maria Sharapova happily accompanied her beau Grigor Dimitrov en route to his triumph at Queen’s Club and Sabine Lisicki enjoyed watching the World Cup in good company of boyfriend Oliver Rocher, Victoria Azarenka has joined Petra Kvitova and Caroline Wozniacki in the singles club.

Just as it is often the case in high-profile love matches, 24-year-old Victoria Azarenka and RedFoo, fourteen years her senior, are finding it hard to make a successful relationship while not compromising their thriving careers, hence, the couple has decided to split, or at least make a break. The tennis star and LMFAO singer-turned-solo artist started dating in 2012, shortly after Vika ended her relationship with Sergei Bubka.

Here’s how RedFoo commented on the breakup rumors:

I think that you know careers are one of the most important things to an individual. She has an amazing career and opportunity to be the next greatest women’s tennis player ever. If Serena (Williams) is the greatest, I think she has the talent and the work ethic to be the next best.

I love my career and music and performing and traveling and I just think that the best environment, the best situation for love, for relationships, is when both people are retired. And that’s what I got to say.

We don’t know how Azarenka is handling the split, but she will sure have a good distraction this week, playing at the AEGON International, her first competition since losing her opener at Indian Wells in early March. Her first opponent will be Camila Giorgi. (source: Daily Telegraph)

I guess this is not meant to apply to normal jobs… I don’t know in other countries, but in Italy retirement age is between 65 and 70!

  2. Mary, he may not realize that we can’t have everything in life and we always have to make compromises and pick the things we value the most to dedicate our precious time to. His decision to pick career shows that career means more to him than a love partner. That’s ok.
