Friday Inside The Magic Box – Highlights

The 2014 Mutua Madrid Open got underway today and as usual, Women's Tennis Blog is there for you to cover all the action up close all week.

While several of the top players like Caroline Wozniacki and Li Na took to the practice courts today, the Caja Magica (the "Magic Box") as the venue is colloquially known, was buzzing with qualifying action as a full field of WTA qualifiers started their Madrid Open main draw bid today.

While many popular players such as Julia Görges, Caroline Garcia, Camila Giorgi or freshly-crowned Kuala Lumpur champion Donna Vekic are safely through to the second round of qualifiers, there have been some big-name casualties today as both Ula Radwanska and Monica Puig failed to win their matches.

Qualifiers and plenty of main draw will continue tomorrow so stick with us for much more from inside the Magic Box!

Urszula Radwanska has not played well in quite some time after she had that shoulder repair during winter season. I hope she can return to form soon. Monica Puig another player I had hope would do well and she had such good year last year.
